Today is a big day as my first book is officially here. I have always wanted to write a book, especially a children’s book; I didn’t know I would ever be able to make a dream a reality. I love children’s books. I have always enjoyed reading to kids, using different voices, and really making reading fun. When this specific book idea came to mind, it was as if God gave me a rhyme, because I don’t speak in rhyme, and that is what jump-started this adventure.
This little book has been on my heart for a bit, and I’m grateful to finally share the finished product with you.

The Heart Behind the Story
It’s been a little over two years since this book idea came to mind. Since then, I have thought about it, deleted some rhymes, created new ones, considered what the illustrations would look like, and written additional rhymes to turn the book into a story. This book really started in the mundane of life, driving Quinn to school and asking her how she would shine her light at school. Because the idea for this book originated from the mundane, I thought it was essential to illustrate in the story how kids can still shine their little light in this big world full of mundane moments.
Jesus meets us everywhere, but I have come to learn that the big experiential moments we often want or hope for in life don’t usually happen as frequently as we would like. I have found Jesus most often in the everyday, mundane moments, where He makes His voice heard, His presence felt, and His love known.
What the Book is About
The story follows a joyful little girl as she navigates the rhythms of her day, waking up, going to school, playing with friends, and helping at home. She discovers that every moment offers a chance to shine Jesus’ light.
Through playful rhymes and gentle truths, kids will see how:
- Kindness matters
- Gratitude changes their hearts
- Obedience honors God
- Grace is right there when they make mistakes
It’s a simple story with a big message: even the smallest lights can make a big difference.
Who This Book is For
This book was created with families in mind—parents, grandparents, homeschoolers, Sunday school teachers, or anyone wanting to weave faith into everyday conversations. It’s perfect for kids ages 3–8, and for those simple moments before bed, after school, or whenever your child (or you) needs a little reminder about who God is and how He sees you.
A Peek Behind the Pages
Like all projects, even when God calls you to something, it can be hard. This book taught me a great deal about communication – specifically, how to clearly communicate what I want and what I don’t like. It also taught me to work hard on something important to me and keep going, even when the illustrators didn’t understand my idea of a particular frame. I pushed forward, writing yet another email of revisions, getting on another call with the self-publisher to confirm details, and all the while waiting for this day, the release day.
How You Can Support This New Adventure
If this book resonates with your heart or you know kids who love to snuggle up and listen to a book being read, or are learning to read, I would be grateful for your support. Being a self-published author, a little support goes a long way in getting more eyes on the book. Once you’ve read it, leaving an Amazon review would be such a cherry on top of your support.
Your constant support with the blog, our build downloads, and us in general, is why this book exists at all.
A Note to the Little Ones This Book is For
My prayer is that every child who opens these pages feels seen, loved, and reminded that Jesus delights in them. I hope they grow up knowing that their light, however small it feels, matters deeply.
Thank You
Thank you for cheering me on, for showing up here, and for letting me share pieces of my heart with you. I’m honored to be on this journey with you, and I look forward to seeing how God uses this little book in the hands and homes of the families who read it.
Here’s to shining bright, in the mundane, the crazy, and right where we are.
With love,
Lo
