This week was fun because I didn’t do any sketching beforehand. I focused on painting flowers in a loose way with not a lot of structure.

I’m type A. So this was a little hard. But building on the foundation of last week with the envelopes I feel like I was able to bring the flower to life with deep tones added on top. The paintings came to life and I got to know my brushes because I had to use them to create the shape of petals and leaves.

I also learned that flower petals don’t have to be drawn to be painted. I cruelly found that painting them in a free way was easier and I was able to get the shape I wanted. Throughout the week, with the flowers I found myself wanting to pen it out where I was going or a flower shape, but this week wasn’t for that. I actually am looking forward to painting flowers again with more structure in the spring.
