Before, our hallway had orange-toned trim and doors. The doors had mismatched knobs. It looked old and dingy. It needed an update!
We used much of our LVP designated for the kitchen in other areas of the house. This is because our kitchen flooded twice, so the floor had to be ripped up twice. Luckily, we used that flooring for our mudroom, guest room, upstairs hallway, and primary bedroom.
Our home walls and trim are different tones of white. I wanted to get some cozy into the home to combat the coolness white brings. Although our walls are a warmer white than our trim, I wanted the doors to be even warmer. To do this, I chose a warm color to paint our doors.
This went out of my comfort zone of all neutrals. I live in neutrals. I have one Pepto Bismol-colored sweater, but you will see primarily neutrals in my closet. My home is the same way—neutral. But, as with my wardrobe, I feel comfortable sneaking bits and pieces of color into the home. The colors aren’t wild and out there, but they are colors, however neutral they may be.

Trim: Pure White

Trim
When the trim is finally up in a house, it finishes it off. I love our hallway; it’s homey, cozy, and warm. The doors break up all the white, giving the hallway dimension.
The trim we chose is primed pine. We made the mistake of using pine trim boards downstairs around the windows. You can see the wood grain when the lights hit them at the right angle. These primed boards are worth the extra cost because they come out smooth and beautiful.
Our trim around our doors is 4-inch primed pine. Our floorboards are 6-inch primed pine.
Doors
We picked up our doors from Lowe’s. They are one-panel hollow doors.
The doors we had before were hollow, but these doors are heavy and do the job of an interior door. They are far and above the doors we had before.
We changed the hardware to black. So the hinges are now black, and we installed black knobs. I love the square plate with the round handle. It adds texture and different lines to follow visually.
